Vice President – Public Affairs System Design, TOMRA Systems ASA, Norway
Jacob Rognhaug has dedicated his remarkable 24-year career to the promotion of collection, sorting, and recycling concepts that help maximize resource productivity and contribute to a more circular future.
Since joining TOMRA in 1998, Jacob has taken various managerial positions across multiple business streams, including product management, sales and marketing, business development, and overall responsibility for TOMRA’s business and operation in China (2015-2020) – invaluable experience that has helped to cement his position as an expert in every facet of TOMRA’s organization.
Prior to emigrating to China (2011), Jacob was an active advocate for promoting recycling and deposit solutions in Norway and the United States. Thanks to his dedication and persistence, ROAF built the world’s first fully automated waste sorting plant in Norway, a facility that was acknowledged as a pilot by administrations across the world.
During his tenure in China, Jacob focused his energy on introducing European municipal waste management experience and expertise into Asia. Through his joint effort with Xiamen Municipal government, Xiamen built China’s first municipal waste sorting plant, which was recognized by the Ministry of Housing and Construction as a national demonstration project.
Today, Jacob is fueled by his commitment to enable holistic resource systems globally, with a focus on complete system design to advance the transformation to a circular economy.
